Holiday Jewelry Boutique

I have been busy making jewelry for the past few months. I've been playing with a bunch of new techniques including resin clay, pmc, pourable resin, and weaving techniques with leather. Here are some of my latest creations!

I will be showing my new pieces at my Holiday Jewelry Boutique this Thursday, Friday and Saturday. I will be posting more pictures soon!

Foil Ornament Christmas Card

Here is the new card that I promised. This one has a removable Christmas ornament!

I was playing with the new Die-namics ornament dies, and I thought it would be fun to try a new technique. I covered grunge paper on both sides with foil tape and then cut out the ornaments. Then, I embossed them with a Tim Holtz damask embossing folder and colored them with alcohol inks.

To make the removable ornament, I cut out two large doilies from the Die-namic's Doily Duo and glued them back to back with a ribbon in between. I used Fired Brick Distress Ink to color grunge paper and cut the number 25 out with a TH mini Sizzix die. Then I covered the numbers with diamond glaze. To finish it off, I used gold pearl pen to decorate the doilies. I used removable adhesive to attach the ornament to the card so that it's easily removable.

I will be teaching the techniques to make this card as well as the previous two Christmas cards at Memories Live On in Cupertino on December 3. I hope you can join me!

Vintaj necklace with gift box & gift card

Here is a new necklace that I made using the new Vintaj brass dies and embossing folders. I added BoBunny brads and buttons for fun and color.

I made a gift box and gift card with the Authentique Gathering papers:

Enjoy!

Christmas Cards to Die(cut) for!

I went on a mini shopping spree the other day and bought some of the new Tim Holtz Christmas dies and stamps. The Graphic45 Christmas Emporium paper was called to me as well.

When I got my goodies home, I thought it would be fun to play with some of my art supplies. I came up with two cards (so far)...

I used the TH holiday lampost die and house border to set the scene. I wanted to make a snowy setting, so I painted tops of the roofs and lampost with picket fence crackle paint and then poured on the glitter before the paint dried. I also use polar white flowersoft (with glitter added, of course) for the snowy hill. I cut the snowflakes out of two layers of cardstock with a piece of wide sookwang tape on the top. Then I peeled the protective sheet off of the sticker snowflakes and dipped them in silver glitter.

For this Santa card, I used multiple layers of circles from the Spellbinders and Die-namics on top of the TH holiday embossing folder. Then I broke out my Prismacolor pencils and colored Santa's jolly face. I also used the TH festive greenery border to add the holly leaves and pine branches. I finished it off with red faux holly berries from Michaels.

I will finish more cards soon. Keep ya posted!

Baroque Cards with Memory Box

I just bought the new Amira and Valerian flourish dies from Memory Box and I wanted to come up with some creative ways to use them. I thought that they would make beautiful flowers. Here are some ideas...

I used Authentique papers combined with bazzill cardstock to make the cards. I also used chalkboard glimmer mists to custom color white Prima flowers. I am planning to change the blue flower on the pink and brown card to a pink flower, to make the colors more cohesive. I will post the change soon.

I will be teaching this class on Oct. 23rd at Memories Live On in Cupertino.

Vintage Fun Tim Holtz Halloween Cards

I've been busy playing with Tim Holtz' new Halloween stamps and the Monster Mania paper by Doodlebug. I love the kitchy vintage look of his new stamps combined with the silly monster papers. Here they are!

And I made a pop-up card!!

I'll be teaching this class on October 1st at 3 pm at Memories Live On in Cupertino. I hope to see you there!

Summer Cricut Cards

While I was leafing through the new Cricut Cards magazine, I saw a super cute card and was inspired to pull out my Cricut again. I am actually a die-hard Silhouette fan, but I couldn't help myself!

The whale card I made is completely based on the whale card in the magazine. But then I decided to make my own summer cards to go with the smiling whale.

I used the Create A Critter cartridge to make the sun on the lemonade stand card and the crab on the beach card. I thought I would be fun to make the sun on the crab card with ink. So I cut a circle template with my Spellbinders and then used Tim Holtz inks distress inks to color the sun.

Lastly, I was looking to add some texture to the crab card, so I decided to use cork paper to make the sand. I also added a little bit to the bucket for fun, and then made a tiny slice in the background to stick in the shovel.

I hope you like them!

Paper Butterfly Pendant

In my quest to use my enormous paper stash to make jewelry, I came up with this layered paper pendant. I used the Spellbinders Fanciful Flight die to make the larger butterfly and Martha Stewart's butterfly punch to make the smaller version.

First, I punched out 3 butterflies from each die. Then, I made a wrapped loop from 24 gauge silver craft wire and glued it to one of the punched shapes with E6000. That way I can add crystal or pearls to the butterfly after the glue dries!

While the E6000 is drying, I curved each of the wings of the punched-out butterflies with my fingers. To glue the layers together, I slathered both sides of each shape with mod-podge and then pressed them together with my fingers. Make sure there is no dried glue on your fingers, because it will end up on your butterflies.

Let the glue dry for several hours. Once the butterflies are hardened, you can wire wrap pearls and crystals to the loop. I also embellished mine with Perfect Pears, copic airbrush & Glitter Ritz. I like to seal the finished pieces with Super Seal spray.

To make them into necklaces, I threaded Beadalon through the holes on either side of the wings, then crimped the Beadalon and added a clasp.

No-Sew Ribbon Clutch

Hello to all of you! I have always wanted to start a blog because I have so many ideas and I need a place to share them. I have been collecting art supplies since I was a kid. Now I am working on using them all up!

I started making jewelry about 20 years ago (before my 3 kids). I have also been a paper-aholic for many years. Now, am looking for ways to combine my love of papercrafts with my love of jewelry design.

Of course, since I am always coming up with ideas for other projects, I am starting my first blog post with a fun, no-sew purse that I came up with when I was teaching a kids' fashion accessory camp last summer.

Have you always wanted a fancy dress clutch, but don’t want to pay Coach prices? Leave your needle and thread at home and come make this no sew clutch to take to your next party. We will be making this amazing purse with only ribbon, duct tape and staples! To add to the fun, we will make a ribbon pendant to match!! I will be teaching this class at Memories Live On in Cupertino, CA on June 25 and June 29.

(FYI- I used a Tim Holtz lock from his "locket keys" idea-ology findings and glued on a Maya Road resin flower to create the faux closure.)

I will be posting more project ideas for cards, jewelry, purses, etc. as I get the chance, so keep watch while I follow the next "shiny penny"!
